Give the Gift of Healing this Christmas…because most of us don’t need another sweater
Today we’re annoucing CURE’s Christmas campaign Gift of Healing. It’s designed to be a great way to make your holiday gift-giving meaningful and special while supporting the work of CURE International.
The campaign is simple.
- Choose an option from our online gift catalog
- Make a donation to CURE in honor of a friend or family member
- Select and personalize a Christmas card that CURE will send to your loved one
Christmas is a time of giving and thanks for what we’ve been given, and the Gift of Healing is a great way to participate with CURE International in caring for children and families around the world who need a gift this holiday season.
…and sweaters?
In this part of the world, each of us has been blessed (thankfully) with enough…and often far more than we need, and Christmas sweaters are proof of that.

The people in this picture (I’m the bald one on the right) are wearing some pretty terrible Christmas sweaters. I received mine as a gift, and though I appreciate the sentiment, I didn’t need it. Now speaking for me (and forgive me if you’re a Christmas sweater person – no judgment on my part), I don’t need another Christmas sweater. In fact, I don’t need much of anything at all. And I hazard a guess that’s true for many of us.
but we all love to give gifts…
I love to give gifts. Who doesn’t love the look on someone’s face when they open something special from you? But… if we’re honest with ourselves… about half of the stuff we buy won’t be used in any meaningful way. There are only so many hats and sweaters and gloves and dress shirts and gift cards any of us could possibly hope to use, and there are so many children and families in the world who don’t have enough.
And that’s why the Gift of Healing is so much better than another sweater
So this year, instead of buying your cousins gift cards they won’t use, what about giving them a gift that will change someone else’s life for eternity? Rather then buying Mom another oven mitt, you can give an Afghan Mom something she would never get without you – a safe delivery and a healthy baby in honor of your Mom. Instead of buying Aunt Mildred another picture frame she’ll loose in the Christmas shuffle, send her a beautiful card from CURE informing her of the gift you made on her behalf. You can make your holiday gift-giving meaningful, and you can introduce your family and friends to the work of CURE International.
A child walking for the first time.
A life introduced to God’s love in Jesus Christ.
An Afghan Mom giving safe delivery to a newborn.
A hidden, hurting child who finds hope in a CURE mobile clinic.
That’s a gift worth giving… and if you need a sweater this Christmas, you can have one of mine. I’ve got plenty.
